I think this is a different for every person. If it's something you can express in a way in a daily basis, and feel good about it, excellent! If you feel like you have some support from management (especially your boss)- and the ones who don't/wouldn't accept it, don't matter- screw them! Great!

If there are none of these kinds of opportunities- migh be time to think of moving somewhere else. Maybe it's the wrong ladder. Go find a glittery one.
